Flood Watch Issued For Albany

The National Weather Service flood watch goes into effect at noon on Friday.

ALBANY, CA — A flood watch has been issued for Albany and the greater Bay Area, by the National Weather Service. The watch goes into effect at noon and lasts through the weekend. It is currently expected to expire at 10 p.m. Sunday.

The "storm door" has opened, with rain already falling in parts of the Bay Area, as an atmospheric river moved onshore Friday morning.

The impact of the rain will build from Friday into Saturday.

Be mindful of slick roads, roadway flooding, and rising creeks. If your neighborhood has experienced flooding in the past, take extra precautions. Call the City if you see trouble spots. If you need to grab a broom or shovel to clear a storm drain, your quick action could prevent damage to your property or your neighbor's.
