Native American Grinding Stone Of The Maidu Peoples: Photo
The holes in the stone are where acorns were ground.

ROSEVILLE, CA — Dan Farquhar took this photo showing an amazing glimpse into the past —bedrock mortars where acorns were ground by Native Americans for thousands of years. The Maidu Museum & Historic Site features exhibits detailing "California Indian traditional practices, such as acorn processing and basket weaving. Walk the trail to see hundreds of bedrock mortars, ancient petroglyphs, and native plants and animals."
Thank you for sharing your photo with Patch readers, Dan.
