Suspect in Albany Homicide Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter

Thomas Shimamura, 32, of Oakland has plead guilty to killing a 23-year-old Vallejo man in Albany a year ago.

ALBANY, CA -- A killing that occurred in Albany in April 2018 has resulted in a guilty plea by the suspect nearly a year later.

Thomas Shimamura, 32, of Oakland plead guilty today to killing a 23-year-old Vallejo man in Albany 50 weeks ago.

The victim, Raphael Fuentes-Lee, was found by police on the Ohlone Greenway, along the 600 block of Masonic Avenue, with a single gunshot wound to the head on April 29, 2018.

Police identified a suspect, Shimamura, and arrested him on April 30, 2018. He was charged with murder.

After deciding to not go to trial, Shimamura pled guilty to the charge of manslaughter on April 16, and is slated to be sentenced in July, according to Albany Police.
