Aliso Viejo Star Student Athlete: 'Everything With A Smile'

ALISO VIEJO, CA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Catherine Kang who nominated her daughter Christine of Aliso Viejo, who participates in competitive swim. Christine was applauded by her mother for being a kind and dedicated daughter. She also recognized her daughter's remarkable knack for befriending those who don't have many friends.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Christine has always been kind and such a good kid. She has two younger brothers that she helps take care of and always manages to do everything with a smile. She also has helped and befriended a new student from Ukraine who cannot speak English and learns Russian to help communicate with her. She practices swim 3 times a week and during swim meets she always manages to play with her friends and include her younger brothers. She always tries to find the good in everything but at times some people do not recognize that. She is such a cool kid who will always befriend those who are by themselves.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

She is such an amazing wonderful girl and we are so proud of her.
