Backyard Council Meeting Slated for Saturday
The public is invited to take a first-person look at the suggested site of a high-density apartment complex near Aliso Viejo Christian School.

Will 4 Orion's zoning switch to very high residential, paving the way for a multi-story apartment complex?
The Aliso Viejo City Council will hold a special meeting Saturday at several Lyon Ridge residences to help decide that question.
The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 2, 4, 6, 10, 12 and 16 Lyon Ridge. These houses would border any apartment complex built on 4 Orion.
The public will be limited to the backyard of 16 Lyon Ridge and the backyard and ground floor at 4 lyon Ridge.
"I think they'll be surprised by what they see," said Resident Andrea Mueller, who added that her backyard could be viewed from future apartment balconies if the zoning passes.
By state law, the city must find room for hundreds of low-income homes, but with 95 percent of Aliso Viejo built out, options are scarce.
Opponents say rezoning 4 Orion would lower nearby home values, increase traffic and negatively affect the nearby school and church. Some opponents feel they were not adequately involved in the decision-making process, perhaps on purpose.
