Famed South OC Mission Vandalized
The historic Mission San Juan Capistrano was vandalized Tuesday, Dec. 23, according to staff.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — An iconic Southern California mission was vandalized Tuesday morning.
"The holiday season can be difficult for many, and historic places like the Mission require special care and respect," Mission San Juan Capistrano staff posted in a statement, along with photos of the vandalism.
One photo showed a sign torn down near the entrance of the mission, while another showed the mission's courtyard littered with shattered glass, toppled sign and other debris.

"Although the damage is repairable, we are disappointed by the disruption it causes to the peaceful experience we strive to offer our guests," staff members said. "Thanks to the generosity of our donors and friends, we are able to address the damage swiftly."
According to staff, an investigation into the culprit is underway.
