Aliso Viejo is the first California city to host this new Mediterranean food franchise.

Editor's Note: Due to a mistake from Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill, the wrong opening date was published in an earlier version of this story. The restaurant is scheduled to open June 5.
A new fast-casual dining option plans to open early June in Town Center. Aliso Viejo will be the first California city with a Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill franchise.
The Colorado-based restaurant will serve up pitas, kabobs and Greek salad, along with falafel, dolmas and shwarma at 26541 Aliso Creek Road. According to its website, the restaurant bakes handmade pitas on-site daily.
Colorado-based Garbanzo was number 15 on FastCasual.com's 2013 Top Movers and Shakers list. According to the website, the franchise focused on growth last year with 15 stores by the start of 2013. They plan to double that by 2014 with locations in northern New Jersey, Oklahoma and Texas as well as Orange County.
This will be the 22nd Garbanzo location and their fifth franchise, according to FastCasual.com.
The franchise owner, Banzo Bean Inc., has rights to develop 10 Orange County locations west of I5, FastCasual.com says.
