Special Education Class Wins Recycling Champion Award

The Laguna Hills High School class was recognized Tuesday for their recycling efforts.

Special education students from Laguna Hills High School were recognized Tuesday for their commitment to recycling.

Their efforts to collect and recycle every bottle and can on their 2,000-student campus as well as their “Recycle Style” video, earned them rePLANET’s first annual Recycling Champion Award.

“My students feel immense pride that their recycling efforts are making a positive impact on the world around them. We recycle every school day to earn money for our classroom, reduce waste, and protect the environment,” said Denise Hunt, teacher of the award-winning life skills class.

The “Recycle Style” video was submitted to rePLANET’s Student Video Challenge contest, which asked high school students to show off their recycling style for a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card.

“The students of Laguna Hills High School are an inspiration to us all,” said Matt Millhiser, rePLANET’s Marketing Director. “We’re touched by their commitment to recycling and impressed by their tireless efforts to ensure beverage containers are recycled.  We’re honored to present the Life Skills class with this distinguished award and recognize these outstanding students for their exceptional achievements.”
