• NID receives $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to protect critical water infrastructure from wildfire (yubanet.com) — Alta Sierra’s water supply is tied to the South Yuba Canal, which is getting a $615,000 CAL FIRE grant to reduce wildfire risk along a vulnerable 2.5‑mile wooden flume. Nevada Irrigation District will thin trees, create shaded fuel breaks, and protect the canal that delivers treated and irrigation water, plus hydro power, to Alta Sierra and other western Nevada County communities.
