Altadena Market Canceled After County Investigation
A local food and craft market that met once in February has been shut down after being contacted by the County Health Department.
A prepared food and crafts market that started up in has been canceled after vendors pulled out following a county investigation, according to the event's founder.
The Eat Well Market, which was scheduled for March 10, was canceled after the county officials contacted the market organizers following an anonymous complaint.
Aimee Silver, the market's founder, said that while the investigation was ultimately closed, enough vendors pulled out of the market that the decision was made to shut it down.

it is uncertain whether the event has a future at this point, she said.
"We're trying to figure out if there is a way or not," Silver told Altadena Patch.

The market ran afoul of the County Health Department after someone repeatedly contacted the department in "an intentional effort to get the market shut down," according to an email sent out by Silver.
Silver said she does not blame the department for doing its job.
"I don't want people reading stuff and getting up in arms," said Silver, who described department officials she was contacted by as "exceptionally reasonable and decent human beings," in her message.
The market featured "hand-made or hand-grown" organic food and required registration for participants.
Silver touted a newly introduced state Assembly bill, The California Home Food Act, which would change state laws regulating the sales of home-made food.
For those who are not regular Altadena Patch readers, it is worth noting this is hardly the first time local events or businesses have had difficulty with the county, as the below links attest:
Editor's note: The original version of this article said the event was closed down after a county permit issue. As noted above, while the county investigation was closed, the organizers decided it was best to shut down the market following the investigation.
