Arroyo Food Co-op to Hold Locavore Dinner

The dinner will feature an Altadena professional chef and produce from the Altadena Farmers Market.

The Arroyo Food Co-op will host a dinner on August 11 to showcase seasonal foods and local producers and growers, including produce from the Altadena Farmers Market and an Altadena chef.

The food co-op organization is working on signing up enough members and getting enough investment to open a food co-op locally, likely in northern Pasadena or Altadena.  The goal is to .

The dinner in August is $45 for non-members and $50 for members.  Tickets can be purchased at the co-op website: www.arroyofoodcoop.com/locavore.

According to the co-op release the dinner will include "appetizers and a three-course menu featuring items sourced locally and regionally.  The meal will include gourmet summer salads, meat and vegetarian entrees, and dessert."

The chef is Altadena resident Nicole Fox, who runs a catering company and is a fan of the Altadena Farmers Market, according to Blair Miller, an event organizer with the co-op.

The co-op also hopes to sign up new members at the dinner, according to the release.  The full investment to join is $300, though the the co-op also offers a payment plan of $30 per year.
