Updated: Sheriff's Detain Threatening Man With Large Wooden Stick
The Sheriff's Department received a call about a man who was carrying a wooden stick and making threats in the vicinity of the Five Acres foster care facility.

Update: The man has been detained by deputies and brought to a county mental health facility, where he will go on a 72-hour hold, Shepherd said.
Original: The Sheriff's Department received a call about a man brandishing a large wooden stick who was making threats in the vicinity of the Five Acres foster care facility at 760 W. Mountain View Street, according to Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The call came in shortly after 11:30 a.m. and suggested that the man appeared to be carrying a wooden table leg, according to police scanner radio traffic.

Shepherd said deputies had just arrived on the scene as of 11:45 a.m. and are looking for the man. She had no further details as of this report.
