Upcoming Public Meetings on County Sediment Management Plan

The plan provides a future outlook on managing sediment dams. Environmental impacts associated with sediment removal have been an issue with local environmentalist.

The Los Angeles County Flood Control District will host two community events to discuss its strategic plan for managing sediment dams in the county.

The plan is a "document intended to provide a broad overview of sediment management and identify potentially feasible alternatives" according to the county's press release.

The upcoming discussions on the Countywide Sediment Management Strategic Plan will give residents a chance to give input on future sediment removal operations, and discuss alternatives that could have a lower impact on the environment.

Below is the information about the upcoming public meetings:

  • The first Community Open House events will take place on May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Los Angeles Mission College Campus Center, 2nd Floor, Assembly Hall 13356 Eldridge Avenue, Sylmar.
  • The second will take place on May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy "El Encanto" facility at 100 N. Old San Gabriel Canyon Road, Azusa.
