Cal Poly Humboldt named a bicycle friendly university (krcrtv.com) — Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata has earned a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly University designation, recognizing years of work to improve bike access, safety, and education on campus. Nestled in bike-friendly Arcata, the university now offers free locks, secure storage, a low-cost bike share, and a Bicycle Learning Center, all aimed at cutting car trips, lowering emissions, and giving students and staff healthier, cheaper ways to get around town.
   

2. Arcata boys tournament highlights another busy week for local teams (humboldtsports.com) — Arcata High is hosting its annual boys basketball tournament this Thursday through Saturday, drawing Fortuna, Eureka, Del Norte, and several out-of-area teams for three days of games. Local squads across Humboldt, from McKinleyville to South Fork and Eureka’s girls, are also hitting the road for tournaments, giving Arcata-area fans a packed weekend of high school hoops to follow.

During a courthouse rally supporting her and reproductive rights, Sen. Mike McGuire and local residents condemned the situation and called for protections so others aren’t forced into similar medical crises.
