• SLO County beach town delays decision over grant to research offshore wind (sanluisobispo.com) — Avila Beach residents just saw a key decision delayed on whether to accept a $3 million state grant to study an offshore wind operations and maintenance terminal in San Luis Bay. After a packed meeting at the Avila Beach Community Center, the Port San Luis Harbor Commission chose to wait for a separate county feasibility study before deciding, as locals debate potential environmental, economic, and tourism impacts.
   

• 5 SLO County cities nominated for America's ‘favorite small town.' Which ones? (fresnobee.com) — Avila Beach is one of several San Luis Obispo County communities highlighted in Parade’s nationwide “America’s favorite small town” contest, alongside Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Cayucos and Paso Robles. Locals can vote daily online, and winners will be announced in June 2026, with the top town earning national bragging rights and promotional signage.
