Baldwin Park Chase Suspect Plows Into Trucks On 210 Freeway
A man wanted for driving with expired license plates led the CHP on a wild chase from Downtown Los Angeles to the San Gabriel Valley Monday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A man led police on an hour-long chase from Downtown Los Angeles to the San Gabriel Valley Monday morning, causing havoc on the Foothill (210) Freeway before finally surrendering.
The driver attempted to flee pursuing California Highway Patrol officers at high speeds along the Foothill (210) Freeway and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, plowing into two pickup trucks on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway before coming to a stop in a residential Baldwin Park neighborhood shortly after 9 a.m. Throughout the chase, the driver could be seen throwing items out of the sedan's windows.
The chase began at 8:15 a.m. at Arlington Avenue near the 10 Freeway when CHP officers attempted to stop the man for driving with expired license plates. Instead of pulling over, he fled north on the 605 Freeway to the El Monte area, according to the CHP. At about 8:45 a.m., the driver went onto the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway, then exited onto surface streets a short time later, and went back onto the 210 Freeway, heading westbound. He struck a pair of trucks just before 9 a.m., sustaining front-end damage and continuing on with a crumpled hood.
