Baldwin Park Resident Jailed for Suspicion in Auto Theft

A Baldwin Park man was arrested late Friday on suspicion of driving a stolen car in West Covina, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Lt. Alan Henley told the newspaper that Norberto Alcantara, a 35-year-old Baldwin Park resident, was arrested and booked on suspicion of auto theft after an officer determined the car had been reported stolen in Orange County.

The police officer was driving near the 1400 block of South Azusa Avenue around 8 p.m. when he was alerted by a license plate reading device mounted on the patrol car of a possible stolen car, said Henley.

The arrest came moments after the latest in the city.

Alcantara will be arraigned this Tuesday at the Citrus Municipal Court, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department inmate information system.

He is being held on $25,000 bail.
