1 Critically Injured In Beaumont Deputy Involved Shooting
A motorcyclist who ran from officers was shot Tuesday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department says.

BEAUMONT, CA — A man shot by a Riverside County Sheriff's Department Deputy near Beaumont Tuesday evening remained in critical condition one day later, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.
Shortly before 6:45 p.m., a Riverside County Sheriff's Department K9 officer made contact with a motorcyclist for an unspecified reason in the area of Redlands Boulevard and San Timoteo Canyon Road, an unincorporated area of Beaumont, Lt. Deirdre Vickers said.
"When asked if he had any weapons, the man became uncooperative and ran toward a residence in the area," she said.

The deputy chased the male, giving him commands to stop and put his hands up.
"The male produced a firearm, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred," she said. "The suspect was struck by gunfire, and deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition."

No deputies were injured during this incident, and the suspect’s identity will not be released at this time, according to the department.
The involved deputy was placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time.
"Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigation Detail will lead this investigation, which is active and ongoing," she said.
