1 Dead, 3 Injured In RivCo Head-On Collision

A driver of one of the vehicles became trapped after the collision in San Jacinto.

SAN JACINTO, CA — Three people were injured and a driver was killed in a head-on collision in San Jacinto on Tuesday, authorities said.

At 4:22 p.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff's Station were sent to Ramona Expressway, west of Sanderson Avenue to respond to a two-vehicle head-on collision.

Upon arrival, paramedics and deputies found three occupants of one vehicle already out of the crashed car and being treated by off-duty nurses, officials said. When paramedics took over, police said they were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver, who was the sole occupant of the other vehicle, was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An early investigation indicated that one vehicle may have been traveling westbound on Ramona Expressway when it crossed over the center line, colliding head-on with the other vehicle, the sheriff's department said.

Ramona Expressway was temporarily closed on Tuesday evening while deputies investigated the scene.
