Deputies believe the man was standing on the side of the road when he fell into the roadway, where he was struck by a passing car.

SAN JACINTO, CA — A pedestrian died in San Jacinto after he was struck by a vehicle on Thursday evening, authorities said.
Deputies responded to State Street, south of Ramona Boulevard, where they found the unresponsive man in the roadway. Despite life-saving measures administered by paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. The crash prompted the temporary closure of State Street, between De Anza Drive and Romona Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the man may have been standing on the side of the road when he fell and was struck by a passing vehicle, deputies said. Police also believe alcohol or drug impairment on the part of the pedestrian may have been a factor in the crash.
