1 Person Killed In Desert Hot Springs Crash
The crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. Thursday at state Route 62 and North Indian Canyon Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — A person was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in the Desert Hot Springs area, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. at state Route 62 and North Indian Canyon Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol Indio Area office.
"For reasons currently under investigation, a Hyundai was in the process of making a left turn onto North Indian Canyon Drive from state Route 62 westbound, when it collided with a Dodge traveling eastbound on state Route 62," a CHP statement said.

"After the initial crash, the Dodge continued in a northeasterly direction and collided into a street light on the northeast corner of the intersection," the CHP said. "Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor."
The driver of the Dodge, described only as a male from 29 Palms, died at the scene, the CHP reported. Information was not immediately available on his identity.

The male driver of the Hyundai, who is from Yucca Valley, suffered minor injuries, the CHP reported. His name was not released.
Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call CHP Officer Granados at 760-772-5300.
