$100 Million Marijuana Stash Uncovered In IE: Sheriff's Dept.

MOJAVE DESERT, CA — The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department alleges that a remote Inland Empire hideaway was being used as an illegal stash house, storing $100 million worth of marijuana.

On Dec. 9, the agency served a search warrant at a 5-acre property in the 5000 block of Honeyhill Road in Oak Hills. The location is an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert.

It's unclear what led investigators to the sparsely populated spot, but once on scene they honed in on a newly built 120-foot by 40-foot metal building. Inside, over 3,000 trash bags were filled with processed marijuana. The bags — each weighing 30 to 50 pounds — were stacked over 12 feet high from end to end of the building, according to the sheriff's department.

Over the course of two days at the location, authorities seized 51 truckloads of processed marijuana totaling over 90,000 pounds. The market value for the cannabis was more than $100 million, the sheriff's department said.

No arrests were announced.
