250-Acre Fire Burns Near Beaumont: 40% Containment
A fast-moving vegetation fire began Sunday afternoon near Jack Rabbit Trail and the 60 Freeway.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Authorities made progress overnight on a vegetation fire burning south of Beaumont. Firefighters managed to hold the blaze to 250 acres and gained 40 percent containment as of 8 a.m. Monday morning, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department officials.
The blaze was reported around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Jack Rabbit Trail and Highway 60 area. Firefighters remained to work the scene overnight where 200 acres burned rapidly in the hills.
According to multiple witnesses, smoke from the blaze was seen for miles, as were air support planes.

Multiple air and ground resources were still at work Monday. Authorities said there were no injuries or evacuations. No official statement has been given as to what caused the incident.
