16-Year-Old Boy Wounded In Redlands Drive-By Shooting
The child was struck in his leg as he walked along on Orange Street, near Union Avenue.
REDLANDS, CA — The Redlands Police Department announced Monday that it is continuing to investigate a weekend drive-by shooting that left a 16-year-old boy wounded.
The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Orange Street near Union Avenue.
Once at the scene, police officers found the victim bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his lower leg. An officer applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding prior to paramedics arriving. The victim was transported to a local hospital. An update on his condition was not available.

The victim and witnesses reported the teen was walking on Orange Street when a gray sedan stopped in the middle of the road. The driver called out to the teen before pulling out a handgun and firing one round. The vehicle then fled, the police department reported.
A spent 9mm cartridge was found in the middle of the road, police said.

It's unclear whether the victim knew the alleged shooter.
