3 Dead After IE Motorcyclist Crashes While Fleeing From Police

A police pursuit through town ended in a deadly collision.

REDLANDS, CA — Three people died in Redlands Tuesday morning in a collision that happened while deputies were attempting to stop a fleeing motorcyclist, authorities said.

At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, deputies were trying to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle on suspicion of reckless driving when the rider refused to stop, San Bernardino Sheriff's Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez told Patch.

After a pursuit, the motorcyclist collided with a Toyota Prius on Redlands Boulevard, near Tennessee Street, Rodriguez said.

The Toyota, which appeared to have flipped upside down, according to photos from the scene, contained two occupants, both of whom were killed in the crash. The motorcycle driver was also pronounced dead, Rodriguez said.

No other information was immediately available. The California Highway Patrol has assumed the investigation.
