60-Year-Old Killed, 2 Injured In Head-On Wreck At MoVal Intersection

Deputies said a man was driving on Ironwood, approaching Helga, when his vehicle "crossed over into oncoming traffic."

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A 60-year-old man was fatally injured and two people were hurt in a head-on collision at a Moreno Valley intersection, authorities said Thursday.

Jay Britton of Moreno Valley died in the crash shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ironwood Avenue and Helga Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The agency said Britton was driving on Ironwood, approaching Helga, when his vehicle "crossed over into oncoming traffic," slamming into a car heading in the opposite direction. It was unclear which vehicle was headed east or west.

County fire department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced Britton dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the other car, whose identities were not disclosed, were taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment of unspecified non-life-threatening injuries, from which they're expected to fully recover.
