65-Acre Elm Fire Fully Contained In Cabazon
"The fire is 100% contained and firefighters have cleared the incident," Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department announced Monday.

CABAZON, CA — A 65-acre wildfire that broke in Cabazon over the weekend was fully contained late Monday afternoon, fire officials confirmed.
"The fire is 100% contained and firefighters have cleared the incident," Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department announced before sundown.
The blaze, dubbed the "Elm Fire," broke out at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 51000 block of Ida Avenue, near Peach Street, according to the fire department. The brusher began during a Santa Ana windstorm that called for gusts up to 65 mph.

During the early hours of the blaze, stiff northeasterly winds pushed it in the direction of residences east of Magnolia Avenue, west of Almond Street and south of Esperanza Avenue, prompting an evacuation warning that lasted until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, when the forward rate of spread was halted.
No property damage was reported by county fire officials.

At the height of the wildfire, an estimated 250 personnel from the county, Morongo Reservation Fire Department, Idyllwild Fire Protection District and other agencies worked to establish containment lines, supported by five Cal Fire air tankers and three water-dropping helicopters.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
