Antiques Roadshow-Style Appraisals Head To RivCo: "What It's Worth"

CHERRY VALLEY, CA — Riverside County residents who may have hidden gems worth some money in their homes are invited next week to the Edward-Dean Museum in Cherry Valley for a round of on-the-spot appraisals by a panel of experts.

The museum, located at 9401 Oak Glen Road, will be hosting the nationally renowned Bonhams Skinner team on Oct. 6 and 7 for presentations on how to value antiques, as well as one-on-one sessions during which attendees can receive the expert attention of presenters.

On Oct. 6, a "What's It Worth" session will be hosted by Antiques Roadshow regular Stuart Slavin.

"During this event, Slavin ... will take you on a journey through the history of selected items from the audience while providing valuations," according to a museum statement.

The event is set from 6 to 8 p.m.

On Oct. 7, four members of the Bonhams team will be on hand for "Consignment Day" at the museum, beginning at 10 a.m.

The guest speakers will be available to individually appraise furniture, decorative arts, silver, Western artwork, books, manuscripts and jewelry, officials said.

"These appraisals will be conducted by experts in their respective fields," according to the museum. "You might even receive a consignment offer on the spot from Bonhams Skinner."

Admission to Slavin's event is $20 to see his presentation, and double that price to have him evaluate an item.

Costs run between $10 and $25 for the Oct. 7 panel presentation, depending on how many items attendees would like to have appraised.
