RIVERSIDE, CA — A tractor-trailer hauling a load of apple juice overturned Monday at the 60/91/215 interchange in downtown Riverside, spilling juice all over a transition ramp, forcing the California Highway Patrol to shut it down.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway transition to northbound Interstate 215, according to the CHP.

The agency said the big rig went over in the No. 3 lane, causing the apple juice to spill out in massive quantities and saturate the entire connector, as well as a surface street below.

The connector was expected to be reopened early Monday afternoon. Traffic was still slow in the area as of 3 p.m.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
