Murder-Suicide Caused Young Pair's Deaths: San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept.

ADELANTO, CA — Investigators determined that murder-suicide caused the deaths of two people found over the weekend inside an Adelanto home, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.

Tyreek Moore, 23, of Adelanto, shot and killed 22-year-old Lancaster resident Shyla Powell before turning the gun on himself, the sheriff's department reported.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the 10700 block of Bonanza Road regarding the grim scene. Despite first responders' efforts to provide medical aid, Moore and Powell were pronounced dead at the scene.

During the homicide investigation, detectives learned Moore and Powell were involved in a verbal altercation on Saturday. It's unclear what the pair's relationship was.

Detectives found a firearm near Moore's body, "and through investigation, the incident was determined to be a murder/suicide," according to the sheriff's department.
