Armed, Dangerous Suspects Sought In Banning Death

BANNING, CA — The Banning Police Department is looking for two people connected to a weekend fatality, and both suspects are considered armed and dangerous, according to the agency.

Banning residents Viviana Maldonado Moron, 37, and Angel De Jesus Barreras, 30, are sought in the death of 33-year-old Banning resident Ivan Topete.

According to Banning police, at about 2:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of W. Wilson Street regarding a rollover crash. A truck hit several parked vehicles and rolled on its side.

A man and woman were in the truck and were injured.

However, the man, later identified as Topete, was also suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

Topete and the woman, whose identity was not released, were sent to a local hospital. Topete did not survive.

During the police investigation, it was determined Topete had been shot in the 600 block of W. King Street in Banning, and Moron and De Jesus Barreras were the suspects, according to Banning police.

Banning police are urging the suspects to surrender. If anyone has information related to their whereabouts, contact the Banning Police Department Detective Bureau at 951-922-3170.
