Armed Hemet Homeowner Shoots, Kills Intruder
Sheriff's officials say a person broke into a Hemet area home in the middle of the night.

HEMET, CA — A home intruder who broke into a Hemet area home while the family was inside was shot by one of the residents, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday. The suspect died as a result of the shooting.
It happened around 12:02 a.m. Wednesday in the 26000 block of Plymouth Street, which is in the unincorporated part of Riverside County near Hemet.
"A suspect broke into the residence, which was occupied by a family," sheriff's Sgt. Rick Espinoza said in a news release. "The suspect was confronted by an armed homeowner and a shooting occurred, which resulted in the death of the suspect."

Espinoza said no one else was injured.
"No arrests have been made at this time and the deceased suspect’s name will not be released at this time pending the ongoing investigation," he said.

The sheriff's department is investigating the incident.
