Average Gas Price Near Pass Area Rises For 8th Consecutive Day

The average price has increased by 2.4 cents over the past eight days, data shows.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Friday for the eighth consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.256.

The average price has increased 2.4 cents over the past eight days, including three-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 2 cents more than one week ago and 6.5 cents higher than one month ago but 10.5 cents less than one year ago.

"This is just the start of the seasonal increase we usually experience in Southern California due to the switch from winter blend to summer blend gasoline," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

"Air quality requirements mandate that as of April 1, most Southern California regions must start selling summer blend gasoline, which is about 12 cents more expensive per gallon. However, that summer blend is already in the supply pipeline and affecting pump prices."
