YUCAIPA, CA — A baby boy was reportedly kidnapped, his mother attacked, outside an Inland Empire shopping center Thursday night. Authorities on Friday are asking for help finding the missing infant. The parents of the child are asking for people to help them look for their baby, they told reporters outside of the Yucaipa Big 5 shopping center.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department put out a call for help finding the baby after K9 scent-tracking dogs failed to find the child’s trail. However, the department did not identify the child or mother, nor did detectives release a description of the suspect. As of noon Friday, the California Highway Patrol still had not issued an Amber Alert for this missing baby.

Shortly after 7:45 p.m. Thursday, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard regarding a reported missing seven-month-old boy.

The baby was last known to be wearing a black Nike onesie. He weighs about 21 pounds and is approximately 24 inches tall. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed.

On Friday afternoon, parents Jake and Rebecca Haro pleaded with the public outside the Big 5 Sporting Goods store on Yucaipa Boulevard.

Supporters organized a search party to look for their infant son, Emmanuel, at 4 p.m. at the store located at 34579 Yucaipa Boulevard. The search was slated to begin at 4:30 p.m., they said.

"Somebody struck my wife while she was trying to change his diaper," Jake Haro said. "We just ask if anyone knows anything, please contact the police department."

Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has had few answers beyond what has been shared as investigators search for the missing boy.

"We appreciate the community's understanding as we work around the clock to locate the victim," the sheriff’s department said in a written statement.
