Bald Eagle Chick Begins to Hatch: WATCH

Two baby bald eagles will soon arrive in California.

BIG BEAR LAKE, CA -- A bald eagle chick in a nest at Big Bear Lake Saturday evening began to pip—that is, to crack the shell of its egg. It was all caught live on a webcam as thousands of people watched, officials said.

The live broadcast continues through Sunday.

Both the mother and father take turns sitting on two eggs, which will continue until the chicks are fully hatched. If all goes well, the first chick could be out Sunday morning, followed by a sibling in a separate egg, officials said.
