Banning Man, 19, ID'd As Homicide Victim, Suspect Arrested: Sheriff
A Banning man died of gunshot wounds Friday. Another Banning resident pulled the trigger, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department says.

BANNING, CA — One 19-year-old Banning man was arrested on suspicion of killing another on Friday in Moreno Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The victim was identified as Angelo Leivas, 19, a Banning resident, whose identity was released after notification of next of kin.
Jacob Necochea, 19, also of Banning, is suspected of pulling the trigger. He was identified and later arrested near the intersection of Sunnymead Avenue and Kitching Street in Moreno Valley, and was held without bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of felony Murder, according to jail records.

Just after 4 a.m., deputies arrived at the 13000 block of Day Street on reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, Sgt. Alberto Loureiro said. When they arrived, a victim, later named as Leivas, was suffering gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died.
Later, deputies identified Necochea as a suspect, obtained his vehicle's description and located it, and the suspect in Moreno Valley.

"Deputies detained the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle," Sgt. Loureiro said. "He was transported to the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station, where he was later placed under arrest.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
