BANNING, CA — Banning residents were asked to respond to the new Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps, and learn what they mean for the city.

On March 24, 2025, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) issued the 2025 Recommended Local Responsibility Area (LRA) FHSZ maps for the City of Banning, reflecting changes in fire hazards across the state.

"These areas classify areas into Moderate, High, or Very High fire based on factors such as terrain/topography, vegetation/fuel conditions, Fire history/ frequency, and climate/weather pattern," a spokesperson for the city said.
