Banning Real Estate Agent Attacked On The Job; Suspect Arrested After Police Chase
A victim was accosted in what was supposed to be a vacant home.
BANNING, CA — At the end of a high-speed police chase through Banning on Thursday, a man was arrested on suspicion of attacking a real estate agent who had entered a home expecting it to be vacant, authorities said.
Around 6:42 p.m., police were sent to the 1200 block of Butterfly Way after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Banning Police Department.
There, officers spoke to a victim who said he had been visiting a home as a real estate agent, where the male suspect was already inside, police said.

The victim was treated on scene by and later taken to a trauma hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Officers received information about a possible suspect vehicle while on scene. It was described as a Hyundai Elantra, which had been spotted fleeing the area of the home.

Once police found the vehicle matching that description, they attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver failed to stop, triggering a pursuit.
Police said the suspect led officers on a chase through city streets to the westbound I-10 and then California State Route 60 before it ended in Moreno Valley.
Officers said they were able to successfully maneuver to get the driver to stop near Frederick Street and Atlantic Circle, where he was identified as 32-year-old Daniel Moreno, a Corona resident.
The department says Moreno has prior contacts in Banning. He was taken into custody without further incident.
No officers were injured during the chase.
