Banning Shooting Under Investigation

Police say they are looking for those responsible for the attack.

BANNING, CA — Banning police on Friday continued their search for those responsible for a shooting at a local apartment complex. The incident happened Wednesday around 3:45 p.m. in the 200 block of West Westward Avenue, which is near North San Gorgonio Avenue and West Lincoln Street.

Banning police said in a news release that the shooting happened on the street on West Westward Avenue and in the south parking lot of the Westview Terrace Apartments.

"Witnesses told officers they heard several shots and observed several male subjects running through the apartment complex," police said. "Witnesses were unsure if the male subjects observed running were involved in the incident."

After the witnesses told police they thought the men ran into one of the apartments, police did a "safety sweep," searching the complex. However, no one was found, police said.

"During the investigation, it was discovered that a vehicle and building were struckby bullets at the apartment complex," police said.

No suspect information or description is available at this time. No injuries were reported in the shooting.
