BEAUMONT, CA — A Beaumont babysitter was convicted in the killing of a toddler after a two-month investigation on Thursday, Oct. 10, authorities announced.
Heather Lyn Greenman, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of willful child cruelty with great bodily injury and two counts of dissuading a witness or victim. She was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in state prison, the Beaumont Police Department reported.

At the end of April, the department arrived at an at-home daycare center after a report that a 16-month-old boy had suffered from a fall. He later died of his injuries. Officers began investigating the death after the Riverside County Coroner's Office deemed it suspicious.

The victim, identified in court documents only by the initials "W.B.," suffered head trauma that the defendant attributed to a fall while the little boy was "running" at her residence in the 14200 block of Barolo Way.

The child's injuries included significant swelling to the head and brain, according to the coroner's office.
A two-month investigation involving multiple detectives, specialists, witnesses and medical professionals. Forensic evidence was also collected with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Through their investigation, Beaumont police discovered several other children — including current and former daycare kids — who had been abused.
