Beaumont Brush Fire Breaks Out Near Lambs Canyon

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon near the highway and was reportedly sending smoke into the area.

BEAUMONT, CA — A small brush fire was contained within about 45 minutes in the Beaumont area after breaking out near a major thoroughfare, the Riverside County Fire Department reports.

The fire was first reported around 2 p.m. in the area of State Route 79 and California Avenue, near Lamb's Canyon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene where they encountered "light flashy fuels on fire," according to the fire department. Those crews managed to get a handle on the fire by about 2:45 p.m.

The total size of the fire was estimated at one acre. Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene until around 4:45 p.m.
