Beaumont Councilman Pledges to Match Donations for Winter Wish Food Drive

Beaumont councilman David Castaldo announced Tuesday he will match donations for the 2013 Winter Wish Food Drive up to $420, the amount of his November paycheck from the City of Beaumont.

Castaldo, who serves as mayor pro tem, pledged to donate 50 cents for each can of food donated to the program, city spokeswoman Ashley Starr said in an announcement.

Donations may be dropped off at the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, 726 Beaumont Ave., or Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. 6th St.

"You may also place your non-perishable food items by your mail box on Thursday, December 19th or Friday, December 20th for pick up by your postal carrier," Starr said. "A food drive at the Beaumont Wal-Mart is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, December 14th."

The Winter Wish Food Drive is annual. Last year Winter Wish assisted 150 families by providing food and gifts for children under 18. For more info or to assist with the Winter Wish program, call (951) 845-9541.
