Beloved Shop To Close In RivCo After 45 Years Following Death Of Owner: Report

Dorothea Dinmore's colorful and whimsical shop specializing in clothing, housewares, gifts and more opened in 1980.

REDLANDS, CA — A community beloved, long-standing shop in Redlands is set to close mid-December after its owner died suddenly over the summer at age 75, The Press-Enterprise reported.

When Dorothea Dinmore and her husband bought German-owned Julius' Deli in 1980, she renamed it Mozart's, as she was reflecting on her mother's Austrian roots and her family's love of music, columnist David Allen wrote on Tuesday.

Although the shop never had anything to do with classical music, it has remained a go-to shopping destination in Redlands for women’s and children’s clothing, housewares, greeting cards, silk florals and more gifts for some 45 years.

Before Dinmore suddenly passed away, she had plans to wind down store operation after 45 years. A closing sale began on Sept. 2, the newspaper reported.

“People are coming in and saying, ‘I’m just coming in to buy pieces of Mozart’s,’” Ronda Jolley, a 25-year employee, told Allen.
