Big Rig Overturns At 60/91/215 Interchange, Snarling Rush Hour Traffic

RIVERSIDE, CA — A tractor-trailer overturned Friday while trying to make a turn onto a connector bridge at the 60/91/215 interchange near downtown Riverside, completely blocking the transition, as well as traffic lanes on the 91.

The crash happened at 2:15 p.m. Friday on the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway transition to the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency stated that the trucker apparently lost control in attempting to steer onto the connector, causing the big rig to roll onto its side.

The trucker emerged from the semi's cab uninjured, according to reports from the scene.
Along with blocking the transition, the trailer blocked several lanes on the 91, the CHP reported.
A SigAlert was posted at 2:20 p.m. due to the obstruction and ensuing traffic jam.

As of 2:45 p.m., CHP officers were waiting for a tow crew to arrive and upright the rig.
There was no word on whether the truck was loaded with cargo.
