Blue Star Moms Chapter for Yucaipa/Redlands/Beaumont/Banning Area

A woman who lives in Yucaipa is starting a Blue Star Moms chapter to provide support for local military, veterans, wounded warriors and families of those killed in action.

Blue Star Mothers of America is a national non-profit organization formed in 1942.

"If you are a military mom and would like more  information on the Blue Star Mother organization and how you can get involved, please join us for an
informational meeting," Jill Castanon of Yucaipa said in an announcement distributed Sunday.

The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 8 at Park View Middle School, 34875 Tahoe Drive in Yucaipa.

Castanon runs the Hometown Hero Military Banner Program in Yucaipa and Calimesa, as well as a care package program for local military serving overseas, which have opened her eyes to the need for a local Blue Star Moms chapter.

"Because I see so many military from this area, I know we have a need for this program here and, thus, that is why I decided to start one," Castanon said.

For more info the new chapter contact Castanon at (909) 261-6411 or yucaipahometownheroes@hotmail.com. For more about Blue Star Mothers of America visit www.bluestarmothers.org/history.
