Body Found In Banning With 'Traumatic Injury'

Deputies are urging the public to come forward and contact the homicide unit with any information they may have.

BANNING, CA — Deputies found a dead man in Banning on Wednesday night who had suffered "a traumatic injury," officials said.

The Riverside Sheriff's Department was still investigating the matter on Thursday afternoon as no arrests had been made.

Deputies from the Cabazon Sheriff's Station were sent to the 47000 block of Morongo Road in Banning regarding a possible dead body, the department said. Upon arrival, police found an injured man with "obvious signs of death."

The area was secured and the department's Homicide Unit assumed the investigation. The person's name is being withheld pending the notification of his family, police said.

The department is urging anyone who may have information about the incident to call Central Homicide Unit Investigator Manjarrez at 951-955–2777 or Cabazon Station Investigator Letterly at 760-393–3502.
