Crews Halt Forward Spread Of Fire Burning Along Reche Canyon Road
Firefighters were making access in difficult terrain.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — Crews battling a brush fire Monday near Moreno Valley were able to stop the blaze's forward progress.
The brusher was reported at approximately 12:32 p.m. in the 8000 block Reche Canyon Road in an unincorporated area.
According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, five acres were burning at a moderate rate in light, flashy fuels.

At about 1:40 p.m., the fire department announced, "The forward rate of spread has been stopped and aircraft has been released. Resources will be committed for several hours working on containment."

Hot, dry conditions were prevalent, with the high in the Riverside metropolitan area predicted to reach 96 degrees Monday afternoon.
No homes or other structures were immediately threatened by the blaze. No injuries were reported.
