Brush Fire In Cabazon Sparked By Vehicle, Cal Fire Says

CABAZON, CA — Firefighters contained a blaze in Cabazon to five acres late Wednesday night after a vehicle caught fire and sparked nearby brush, the Riverside County Fire Department reports.

The fire was first reported around 10:12 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Brooksview and Marble drives, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

"The first arriving engine company reported a single vehicle fire that has spread to the vegetation and was burning approximately 1/4 acres of light to medium fuels," she said.

A total of 68 firefighters contained the fire to five acres in about an hour, she said. A knockdown was declared at 11:10 p.m.

Crews remained at the scene until 1 a.m Thursday extinguishing hot spots, Newman said.
