MORENO VALLEY, CA — A brush fire that erupted Monday on the very east end of Moreno Valley scorched about three acres before it was partially contained.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:55 p.m. along Gilman Springs Road, near East Alessandro Boulevard, in a rugged lightly populated area known as the Badlands, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine crews reached the location within minutes and encountered flames moving at a slow rate across open terrain.

Two Cal Fire air tankers from Hemet-Ryan Airport 10 miles to the south arrived shortly afterward but did not initiate runs on the brusher as crews quickly established hose lays, according to reports from the scene.
No road closures were necessary.

As of 3:25 p.m., firefighters were strengthening containment lines.
There was no word regarding what might have triggered the fire.
