California Teen Arrested After Snapchat Video Shows Cat Thrown

A teenager was arrested Monday after video surfaced on Twitter showing a cat being thrown onto a street.

CALIFORNIA -- A teenager was arrested Monday after video surfaced on Twitter showing a cat being thrown onto a street. The video, which was recorded on Snapchat last Friday, shows a young man intentionally throwing a cat onto a street.

Ontario police said they were notified of the incident early Saturday morning and immediately began to investigate.

The suspect, 16, was spotted around 1:45 p.m. Monday near 7th Street and Berlyn Ave in the city of Upland. The suspect apparently ran away from officers but was quickly detained and arrested, police said.

The suspect was booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall for felony animal abuse. Due to his age, his named was withheld.

The cat, named Spots, suffered a fractured leg and internal injuries, the owner told NBC4. She was being cared for by the Inland Valley Humane Society.
